Reports place Turner in the casting conversation, while Amazon MGM’s official update describes an ongoing search. His confirmed next screen role is in Neuromancer.
Callum Turner remains part of the conversation about the next James Bond, but a report about auditions is not a casting announcement. As of November 2, the official Amazon MGM update reviewed for this article describes a search in progress and does not name Turner, or anyone else, as the new 007.

That distinction matters because the actor’s name has become attached to several different kinds of stories: trade reporting about screen tests, speculation about what his other commitments mean, and fan predictions about who fits the role. Those claims do not carry the same evidential weight.
What the casting reports say
Variety’s October 23 report said final screen tests were expected to take place, with Turner and Jack Lowden appearing to be in the mix. The report also noted that representatives for the actors and Amazon MGM had not immediately responded to requests for comment.
This is substantial industry reporting, but it remains reporting about a selection process. It does not establish which auditions were completed, how they were assessed or who will ultimately receive the role. A date mentioned for possible tests should not be turned into a date for an official announcement.
What Amazon MGM has confirmed
The studio’s official Bond update says it will share news when the time is right and will not comment on specific details of the casting process.
The creative team is more clearly established. Denis Villeneuve is directing, Steven Knight is writing, and Amy Pascal and David Heyman are producing through their respective companies. Tanya Lapointe is an executive producer. The film follows No Time to Die, which ended Daniel Craig’s run in 2021.
Those appointments describe the people shaping the next film. They do not identify its leading actor, and neither betting markets nor photographs of a candidate can substitute for that missing announcement.
A confirmed Turner project to watch instead
There is a firm screen credit and release date for viewers following Turner’s work. Apple’s official Neuromancer page lists him as Case in the science-fiction series and gives a January 22, 2027 release date.
Case is a hacker drawn into digital espionage and a corporate heist alongside Molly, played by Briana Middleton. The cast also includes Mark Strong and Peter Sarsgaard. That project offers a concrete next step for Turner’s audience while the Bond search continues.
The useful conclusion is narrow: Turner is a reported contender, and his name belongs in coverage of the search. Calling him the next James Bond would go beyond the official information currently available.
